Haiti Supplies Needed
Posted by kate under: Haiti 2010; Supplies Needed.
I wanted to bring to your attention some supplies that we are collecting for our OnCall team traveling to Haiti this month for earthquake relief. Our host has told us there is a great need for both over the counter medications and light summer clothes for men women and children. If you are interested in donating any of these items to Haiti, please bring them to the TSC missions office Tuesday, March 9th or Wednesday, March 10th between 10am-6pm.
Clothing
They have requested light, summer clothing in all sizes. Long, flowing skirts are commonly worn by women, as well as linen pants, shorts and t-shirts. Flip-flops and sandals are also a need. Children and baby clothes in all sizes are needed. Many people have been wearing the same clothing since the earthquake. Please do not donate bulky close toed shoes, boots, coats, toys, books or anything else besides clothing at this time as our space to pack is limited!
Over the counter medications
The following is a list of the medications needed most:
• Children’s Chewable Vitamins (not gummy)
• Infant Vitamins
• Adult Multivitamins
• Antifungal Cream (Lamsil, Lotrimin, etc.)
• Pain Relievers (Tylenol, Advil, etc.)
• Infant and Children’s Pain Relievers
• Cold and Cough Medicine
• Infant and Children’s Cold and Cough Medicine
• Antacids (tums, pepsid, etc)
• Triple Antibiotic Creams
• Toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash
Please note that depending on how much we receive and how much room we have to pack, some medications may be designated to the OnCall trip to Mexico as well.

Kate, do you ever leverage http://www.medshare.org or http://www.blessing.org ? Both are partners of ours and are wonderful organizations. Medshare has tons (literally) of disposable medical supplies and equipment that you can receive for FREE…it only costs you shipping. Blessings offers pharmaceuticals at near-cost to licensed providers.

Based on recent messages from HEF, they are also advising that coloring books and crayons, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and stickers are needed and desired by the teams for the kids in the hospitals and refugee camps. They are housing 200 people on the compound and these items along with the small. soft dolls and toys are most welcome.
